In 2019, <\/span>Qair<\/span> associated with Brazilian <\/span>brand<\/span> Catarina Mina to create the <\/span>Ol\u00ea<\/span> Rendeiras<\/span> project<\/span><\/strong> which <\/span>is <\/span>aim<\/span>ed at <\/span>valuing the <\/span>B<\/span>ilro<\/span> lace tradition <\/span>in <\/span>Trairi<\/span>, in the <\/span>state of <\/span>Cear\u00e0<\/span>, <\/span>to <\/span>strengthen the culture and move the economy of <\/span>the <\/span>region <\/span>in a sustainable way.<\/span> In 2021, the <\/span>Ol\u00ea<\/span> Rendeiras<\/span> project made its debut at the world’s first sustainable fashion event, Brazil Eco Fashion Week, in Milan, Italy. And this year, in 2022, <\/span>it<\/span> was invited to return with a new fashion show.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ol\u00ea<\/span> Rendeiras<\/span> was at <\/span>Dragao<\/span> Fashion <\/span>Brasil<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/span>(DFB) Festival<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/span>For <\/span><\/span><\/span>the occasion, <\/span><\/span><\/span>Qair<\/span> Brasil’s management team<\/span>, several collaborators and some of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>craft<\/span><\/span><\/span>women<\/span> taking part in the project were also present<\/span><\/span><\/span> at the parade<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

B<\/span>ilro<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span> is a <\/span><\/span><\/span>brazilian<\/span><\/span><\/span> countryside <\/span><\/span><\/span>tradition. It was brought to the northeast of the country <\/span>by the Portuguese women during <\/span><\/span><\/span>the colonial period and <\/span>has been perpetuated over the years<\/span> by the more than 5000 women from <\/span>Cear\u00e1<\/span>, who pass<\/span>ed the<\/span> knowledge <\/span>on <\/span>from generation to generation<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

W<\/span>ith the advancement of the textile industry<\/span>,<\/span> homemade productions lost their financial value<\/span> but have <\/span>recently<\/span> returned to attract stylists from all over the world, and s<\/span><\/span><\/span>ome<\/span> businesswomen <\/span><\/span>have <\/span><\/span><\/span>decided to change the reality of thousands of <\/span>artisans<\/span> by opening cooperatives that regulate, <\/span>encourage,<\/span> and expand the range of contacts between the<\/span>m and the <\/span>fashion<\/span> industry<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In this context, Ol\u00ea<\/span> Rendeiras, which <\/span>gathers<\/span> more than 250 artisans spread across more than 20 communities in the region<\/span>,<\/span> consists of promoting workshops, conversation circles and exchange of experiences to enable the necessary knowledge and tools, such as financial resources, for the development of the lacemakers’ work, in periodic meetings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>B<\/span>ilro<\/span> lacemakers have already launched two clothing collections and a collection of home decor items, both bestseller<\/span>s, available for ordering through Catarina Mina’s website<\/a>, with worldwide shipping.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>In recent years, we <\/span><\/span>have <\/span><\/span><\/span>managed to increase the price of pieces by five times, <\/span><\/span>we<\/span><\/span><\/span> partnered with <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span><\/span>French brand Anne Fontaine and paraded <\/span><\/span>with\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span>during <\/span><\/span><\/span>Brazil Eco Fashion Week <\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u202f<\/strong>in Milan and at\u202f<\/span><\/span>the DFB Festival<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/em>\u202f\u201d, <\/span>said <\/span>C\u00e9lina<\/span> Hissa<\/span>, designer and founder of <\/span>Catarina Mina<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
